Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Summer Reading Challenge?
The Summer Reading Challenge is our annual program to encourage people to read during the summer. Not only is reading fun and proven to lower your stress levels, but it’s also super important for kids and teens to read during their summer break so their brains are ready to start learning again in August.

Who can participate in the Summer Reading Challenge?
Anyone! Our Challenge is split into three age groups: beginning readers, children and teens, and adults. Each group has slightly different activities that they must do to complete the challenge.

How do I register?
You can register by filling out the form below, or by coming into the library. Registration begins on May 25.

What happens after I register?
You will receive a packet that includes a game sheet, calendar of events, list of prizes, rules, and, depending on the age group, a list of suggested books to help complete some of the activities on your game sheet.

How do I complete the Challenge and get my prizes?
To complete the Challenge, do 20 of the activities on your game sheet. Once you have done 20 of them, bring the game sheet back to the library to turn in and pick up your prizes. You can also pick up a bonus game sheet to earn more raffle tickets. Prizes can only be picked up at the library – we will not mail out any prizes.

Is there a way to participate in the Challenge online?
Unfortunately, we do not have an option to complete the Challenge online at this time. If you register online, you have the option to either get a copy of the packet emailed to you to print at home, or for us to mail a packet to you.

When does the Challenge end?
The Challenge ends on August 3. That is the last day for you to turn in your game sheet and pick up your prizes. Game sheets turned in after August 3 will not get prizes or earn raffle tickets.

What else is going on this summer?
We’re planning fun special events for all ages! Check out what we have planned over on our calendar, or sign up for our weekly Wowbrary newsletter. If you opt to receive email notifications about the Challenge, you’ll also get an email newsletter throughout the summer with information about our events.
